To send your official USMLE transcript to third parties, complete Form 172, Request for an Official USMLE® Transcript, and return it to ECFMG with your payment. Currently, the fee for requesting official USMLE transcripts is US$70 for each Form 172 you submit. This fee covers requests for up to 10 transcripts on each request form. Refer to the instructions at the top of Form 172 for more information.
Foreign institutions, such as medical schools and hospitals, should use Form 173, Institutional Request for an Official USMLE® Transcript, to request transcripts of the institution’s student(s)/graduate(s). A written consent completed by each student or graduate for whom the USMLE transcript is being requested must be included. Full payment of the required fees must accompany each Form 173 submitted. The fee for this service is US$70 for up to 10 transcripts, for example: US$70 for one to 10 transcripts, US$140 for 11 to 20 transcripts, US$210 for 21 to 30 transcripts, etc. Refer to the instructions at the top of Form 173 for more information.
ECFMG does not provide USMLE transcripts to state medical boards or other licensing authorities. To send your USMLE transcript to a medical licensing authority, contact the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc. To report your ECFMG certification status to a medical licensing authority, refer to ECFMG’s Certification Verification Service.
If you are registered for or have taken USMLE Step 3, you must contact the Federation of State Medical Boards of the United States, Inc. to request USMLE transcripts.
